Fiddlin' for the Crowds

Fiddler, River Market, Kansas City

I'm trying to learn to take photos of people ... and so far, the best I can do is snap street performers! Damn my shyness!

10 Shout-outs to Waldo Oiseau:

Love this photograph. I can 'hear' the music. Great atmosphere.

Nice shot, excellent detail. perfect profile. Very good subject for B&W. One suggestion: if you use a photo editing program, you might want to get rid of the bright horizontal bar in the left center - it distracts the eye from the graceful lines of the neck of the violin and the bow.

Do you use a DSLR? If so, I'll send you a tip that's worked for me about photographing people on the street with less anxiety.

Jilly, thanks!

Bob, good suggestion! I did a little magic and removed the white light on the left side.

Good improvement. It leaves the viewer's eye where it ought to be.

Wow! I'm impressed! Just looked at your site for the first time today. Great technical skill! You know lots more than I, and I like your work. Personal question--what kind of camera do you use and what's your photographic background?

Terrific. You've really captured the essence of a focused musician in action.
