Life Cycles

Bird Wing, Kansas City

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Kansas City and I was eager to get home, throw off my work clothes, climb into my ratty gardening outfit, and continue on my mini-gardening project in the front yard.

As I dug my fingers into the soil, I was having visions of a month or two in the future when my petite seedlings and limpy transplants would be sturdy and healthy with life.

Not until I was tidying up and putting away my tools did I discover that there had been a bloody bird carcass laying in the grass not 10 feet away. (I kindly did not post the bloody stuff)

First, this illustrates that I am often entirely unaware of my surroundings when I've gone off to fantasy land, and secondly (and more importantly), it's good to take a look at and inspect all the life cycles in nature.

Too hard to tell, as all that remained were two wings and some bones. :(

You're right. I've certainly started to notice a lot more about my surroundings since I started my daily blog.
