Tiger Lilies

Tiger Lilies, Kansas City

Well, it's officially hot n' humid in Kansas City ... and there'll be no respite from the heat till Fall. Late June marks the presence of Tiger Lilies blooming all across the city and throughout much of the midwest.

Tiger Lilies (or Orange Lilies) are often mistaken for a very similar "oriental" lily, however, the Tiger Lily is actually a common wildflower that was naturalized to the United States in the 19th century. They represent summertime and abundance.

3 Shout-outs to Waldo Oiseau:

Seems so strange for me in England to read that Tiger Lilies are classed as common wild flowers for you! Summer seems to have taken a break here in my part of England...rainy and much cooler!
