Freedom Isn't Free

97th & State Line Rd, Kansas City

This homeowner on State Line Road in South Kansas City (MO) had something to say.

If you live in the KC area, I suggest you drive by ... it's pretty profound.

There's a family here in Madison doing something similar. I wish more people were as aware...

On a lighter note, thank you for visiting my food blog, which I never thought would ever have any visitors! Doing the daily photo blog kind of gives you a built in audience, so to actually see comments at the food blog was quite a thrill! Come visit again.

WHAT A BAD LIFE!THIS PHOTO MADE ME SAD!
BUT!
YOU MUST MAKE THIS NO.(3586) TWO HUNDRED BIGGER TO FIND OUT HOW MANY IRAQI PEOPLE DIED IN THIS 4 YEARS!
I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT BETTER.
I LOVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE.
HAVE A GOOD TIME

I like his message. We also have a man in the country who lines his front property up with hundreds of flags. It is something to see.

I like your shot.

Thank you for all the comments on this photo. I think the simple principle that this homeowner felt compelled to share his thoughts and opinion--and knew that he could freely do so--perhaps makes the most profound statement of all.

Hearing the number of dead soldiers somehow doesn't seem to have the impact that seeing the number seems to have. When you think that each flag represents someone's father, sister, mother, brother, husband, wife...who won't be going back home...

And yes...greenshutter's comment is even more impacting. How many flags would it take to represent the innocent Iraquis who have died in this war?
