Hookin' Up at Hooper's

Charlie Hooper's, 12 W 63rd Street, Kansas City

... Not that kind of hooking up. Although now that I think about it, Charlie Hooper's, in Kansas City's Brookside neighborhood, is exactly the kind of place for finding a hook up. wink wink

With happy hour specials on a variety of tasty appetizers and a beer selection in the hundreds, you could easily get toasted enough to start thinking everyone was hot.

Which, of course, is why when I went on Tuesday to meet other local KC bloggers, I made sure I only had 2.5 beers and left at 7:45p to go home and watch Christiane Amanpour's special on CNN. Yeah, I'm smart like that. Apparently, I missed all the fun, as there was talk of dresses falling open and something about long tongues.

Have you met up with other bloggers in your city?

At my first blogger meet up in Kansas City: ~ Spyder from Myspyderweb speaks French. It was really exciting to ask her if she spoke French in my fabulous franglaise! And then that was that. ~ Cara from JustCara was such a doll. ~ Melinda from Oggi! Today! was cute as a button, and will be moving with her fiance to Sarajevo. ~ I spent some time discussing illicit drug use with Observant Bystander, Venus, and M.Toast--who lives in my Waldo 'hood. ~ I discovered that The D really is awesome and it's not just his attempt at the power of positive thinking. ~ Dan of Gone Mild was one of the first friendly faces I met at the meetup. ~ Emawkc had a good time making fun of me for not having Tivo/DVR like everyone else in the civilized world. ~ Faith of Frighteningly Uncommon Sense is as wacky and self-forthcoming (is that a word?) in person as she is in her blog. ~ Loved meeting Filegirl, but will never know anything about her because my computer blocks her blog .... category "sex." woo hoo, hhmm. ~ EolaĆ from Irish KC ... is Irish, naturally, and quite lovely in his bearded-cyclist-artist sort of way. We had an interesting chat about cycling in Kansas City.

No, I have never met with other bloggers in my city, but it could be a nice idea!
Thank you for visiting Arradon DP and good weekend!

Very nice to meet you in person. I don't see how watching Christiane could be more fun than hanging out with us, but maybe there won't be a conflict at the next meetup.

ciao!

Um, not sure if I'd be happy calling in to Charlie Hooper's for a drink - looks a little scary!

Spyder: Merci beaucoup! Et vous aussi.

I'd be happy to talk photography sometime! Here's where I keep my "pretty" pictures! http://catebennett.my-expressions.com/

Emawkc: I will be quite sure to not let a single thing interfere with the next meetup! :)

Ed, great! I'll forward your contact info to Spyder at Myspyderweb, as she's the head organizer of our meetups! She's maintaining a roster of bloggers.

what a great idea to record your own city! every place has something special, an artist knows how to find it and share it with others.
