Have a Sweet Weekend

63rd & Oak Street, Kansas City

The Oak Street Coffee Shop has been around since 2005 and is my favorite place to stop in for scones. Owned by Dorna Edgar and Martha Pruitt, Oak Street is a little gem of a coffee shop filled with lounge-y seating, stacks of newspapers to peruse, and delicious homemade treats ... the star being the scones (in my humble opinion).

I was never a scone-aholic ... but I'm a convert now. These babies are made fresh daily and come in a delectible selection of cranberry, chocolate chip, and more! Looking for a little breakfast or afternoon snack? They've got that, too.

Dan, over at Gone Mild, shares his end-of-August update on having spent the last six weeks focused on only eating at locally owned establishments. Long live local cuisine!

You must bring that camera everywhere?

I hear you on the scones. We spent 5 weeks this summer in Ireland (my homeland) and we ate scones every day, in every coffee shop we were in, at home. I have a few extra pounds to attest to that :) Scones are awesome. I have yet to find any good ones in Texas where I live now :( Glad to hear some Americans are enjoying them stateside.

Nice shot! I love scones too, and bring my camera with me everywhere. Doesn't everybody? :)

paintman: yep, pretty much, I take my camera wherever I go.

shona: Now, if we could just get good croissants on this side of the Atlantic, too!
