Hanging out in the "Viable Third"

18th & Vine, Kansas City, Mo.

After work yesterday, I headed down to 18th & Vine to attend the 1st anniversary of Viable Third, hosted by local bloggers, Dan and KC Sponge.

Just across the street from the famous Blue Room, is Harper's--which has been several years in the making. The night was a great opportunity to talk with Airick West and Robyne Turner about the need to bring our spending dollars to Kansas City's third district. Their blog is about their commitment to living and spending their money within the borders of this district. [Check out Dan's Appreciation post on Viable Third.]

A special thank you goes to Myra Harper, the woman behind both Harper's and Strangefrut Catering, for offering wonderful appetizers and desserts for last night's function. The wings were awesome as were the tasty desserts.

Myra informed me that plans are underway for Harper's to be open for the lunch crowd, and both Saturday and Sunday brunches (which will include live jazz and gospel music!) as well as a Dinner menu are scheduled to follow sometime in the next few months. I can't wait!

2 Shout-outs to Waldo Oiseau:
